Five Minute Friday: EXHALE!

Breath out, breath in!

From our first cry, the brain stem keeps this life-giving function on auto-pilot. Most of the time, our exhalation occurs without awareness.

However, there are exceptions.

Imagine with me these situations and your awareness of the “exhale.”

Running hard
Swimming

Meditative breathing

Relaxing and releasing muscle tension

Yoga

Anger

Laughing

Dying

As much as we need oxygen, we also need to exhale the poison of carbon dioxide.

As much as we need to take in God’s Word, we need to exhale the poison of our sin nature.

Inhale His love.
Exhale selfishness.

Inhale His acceptance.
Exhale judgments.

Inhale His mercy.
Exhale stubbornness.

Inhale eternity.
Exhale desires of the flesh.

Inhale His grace.
Exhale gratitude.
