Praise the Lord!

The bitter, unending cold and blustery days are affecting even the most positive, upbeat people, including me.  When Sunday dawned with barely sub-zero temperatures and no wind, I thought it would be good day to visit our daughter and son-in-law that live about two hours north.

When Kenne agreed and the kids said their calendar was clear for the day, we left after church for a Sunday drive.

Somehow, we began reminiscing about our favorite songs from the 80’s and both remembered the Imperials’ recording of “Praise the Lord”.  It took a couple tries, and we were missing the trumpet and string orchestration, but together we remembered most of the words correctly.

The truth of these lyrics is founded in God’s Word, and proven in our lives.  Jesus has done the work, and we can claim victory through Him.

As we enter Lent, remember to praise Him!

Praise the Lord

When you’re up against a struggle, that shatters all your dreams
When your hopes have been cruelly crushed by Satan’s manifested schemes
And you feel the urge within you to submit to earthly fears
And the faith that you’ve been standing in just seems to disappear.

Praise the Lord, He will work through those who praise Him
Praise the Lord, for our God inhabits praise
Praise the Lord, for the chains that seem to bind you
Serve only to remind you, that they drop powerless behind you
When you praise Him.

Now Satan is a liar, and he wants to make us think
That we are paupers when he knows himself we’re children of the King
So lift up the mighty shield of faith for the battle must be won
We know that Jesus Christ has risen and the works already done.

Praise the Lord, He will work through those who praise Him
Praise the Lord, for our God inhabits praise
Praise the Lord, for the chains that seem to bind you
Serve only to remind you, that they drop powerless behind you
When you praise Him.

Praise the Lord, He will work through those who praise Him
Praise the Lord, for our God inhabits praise
Praise the Lord, for the chains that seem to bind you
Serve only to remind you, that they drop powerless behind you
When you praise Him., praise Him, praise Him…
